You can fly direct to Siam Reap and Phnom Penh from many destinations - check with your travel agent to find the easiset route. The departure taxes for airflights are steep compared to nearby countries.

Vantha Taxi operates a reliable service from the airport and around town. They have a website if you wish to book a cab from the airport.


If you are traveling overland then you have the following border crossings available to you. If you are travelling to or from Thailand then it's useful to know that the Thailand/Cambodia border hours have been extended to 8 pm.

    A tip from Gordon from The Tales of Asia - "I do not recommend using the Poipet / Aranyaprathet border crossing much beyond 5:00 pm as I do not consider Poipet a safe place to be after dark and onward transportation could be a problem at that hour."

    The only thing you need to pay for is your visa - Coming from Thailand they will charge you 1000 Baht.

    You don't need to exchange money at the border.

Avoid the Khao San Road travel agents that will try to sell you a cheap ticket as it's basically just a scam, travel isn't hard. The only problem with overland travel is the border crossing guards will rip you off for a few dollars with exchange rate scams. Don't exchange money at the border as you can use dollars quite freely and even Baht in the border towns.
